UNITED RACES OF THE WORLD

I was having a think about asians in the states. How somehow, the asian culture don't seem very apparant in them and they all seem more american influenced. And i somehow find it a lil sad which is kinda weird cos I never really embraced much about my culture and heritage. But somehow, in a foreign land, I feel more need to embrace it and somehow am more proud about it.

That also being said, I think about the US and Singapore and realise thye're somewhat similar but also on opposite ends. The US is a Western country who tries to almalgamate various cultures but strangely enough still holds on strongly to their western roots and values. While Singapore is a diverse culture with strong Western influences and trying to hold on to its Asian cultures. Similar yet not. But I guess I find it similar cos they're both a countries that aims to have various communities, races and cultures come together.

And I realise for a Singaporean to go to a Western country is something to get used to. For one, for any to go to the US, most of the time, they aren't there without money... MOST anyway. And we're very used to being a majority n not looked down upon. Much more when you're a Chinese. But when you arrive, you're religated to a 2nd class citizen which isn't the case cos we all know we aren't. And because we're so used to being 'superior' or 1st class, it's not easy to accept being treated otherwise, esp when we know that we might jolly well be better than the buggers who look down upon us. Guess the reason I refuse to do the menial jobs if ever the need. My sense of pride is too strong for that somehow cos I know I don't belong to that class and that people ask me to do it cos they think I belong there. So far, I haven't encountered any form of racism yet lah but somehow, you can't help but wonder you're being discriminated somehow. Guess something we gotta learn to deal with if ever in such a situation.

Anyway, this trip to the US is pretty interesting cos of the higher number of US crew and cast. The cast are all locals but mostly with asian roots. Which still is somewhat cool. Cos there's this connection as well. This commonality to link us. But yet, it even seems weird tt the american chinese discriminate against us... but again, might be being too sensitive and it's just a matter of lingo n tt we don't share the same experiences i guess. So I guess it's a normal thing. SOme people find it intriguing to meet people of a different culture, others, might find it a hassle to try to figure them out n just not bother at all.

Anyhoo.. I think i'm running outa things to blog liao :p

So i'm gonna sign off here. Gonna be shifting to new location in 6 hours time n it's gonna be a 6 - 8 hours bus ride so kinda not sleeping so tt can sleep in the bus. So yah, maybe pop by some of the crew's rooms to hang out bah.. see how. Hope got net access in the next location then everything will be perfect liao... This comin week kinda slack s compared to this week so let's rock and roll. 11 more days to go.. LET"S GO....
