WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
I find it amazing sometimes how inspirational shows can sometimes be. And I know that sometimes to some, it's quite ridiculous to refer to a show as if it was real. More so when it's a cartoon.
I was watching Gundam Seed: Destiny. Now for those who don't know what the show is about. It's history actually went way way back but I only started from the seed series. So this is a sequel to that. Stand alone wif the old characters and some new. So anyway, the seed series (not sure abt the prior ones) is about 2 groups of people, the Naturals and the Coordinators. The Coordinators are genetically engineered so they possess higher fighting skills and because of this, are despised by the naturals. Basically, the story's about the morality of discriminating another just because he/she is different. Of course, there's a third group who believe that they should put aside differences and live together.
So anyway, in the first Seed series, there was the Archangel and the Freedom, a battle ship and a mobile suite respectively. These were the last surviving crafts from the previous war and was highly respected for it.
Now, a new war has started and this time, by the Naturals. But the war was started by the politicians. So most of the soldiers are sorta torn esp a place called Orb cos Orb has always been a neutral country of the Naturals till recently. Anyway, it's been quite heart warming and funny cos the politicians have at countless occasions tried to destroy the very people who had protected them and it's only the people on the ground who have upheld respect and gratitude for the people and fighters who had lent them a helpin hand in their hour of need.
So this time round, most people had thought that the Freedom and the Archangel have been already destroyed or assumed decommisioned. but recently they had taken flight once again and seemingly to be against the agenda of the new Orb government. So at the battlefront, when given the orders to shoot them down, the captains at the front didn't and unfiedly (if ever such a word) saluted the warship, allowing it to escape, hoping that it would bring them peace again like in the previous war. They held on to an ideal and pinned their hopes on a belief.
Now most of you know that sometimes I can go around one idea and end up seeing another possibly different thing altogether. And also, I got very fixed ideas about religion.
I've always believed, esp after watching them war shows, that it is only those times of extremity can you truly see people for who they are. And it's only when what you're fighting for is truly worth something. Something we can't really say the same for now. I wonder at times like these, what do we have to motivate and push us. What are we really 'fighting' for? And when we will we ever have the faith to believe in one common person or purpose like how the soldiers at the frontline believed that the Archangel would once again bring them peace?
Ok, i know it's just a stupid cartoon.
If there's one thing I believe in or least want to believe in is my dreams and my ideals. Y once told me that I'm too idealistic. But here's the thing, if we didn't believe in SOME ideals, then what's there to live this life for? I'm not talkin about being naive and believin things like good things should come to good people or any of that rubbish. I'm talkin about a dream, like one day parachuting or free fallin and stuff like that. These are SOME dreams of mine. And hopefully, what I do now will one day fulfill these dreams.
I always love askin people these questions. What do they want to do.
3 years ago, I used to have a zest for life. Having these things I had set out to achieve. But the problem with me is that it's not that I don't desire these things enough but that i get sidetracked very easily. Distracted. I believed that if there was nothing for me to look forward to in my life, something to work for, there wasn't any purpose for a life. I'm not just talkin about earnin money as a purpose, sure that's crucial and integral to survival and even living out your dreams. But if you didn't have an objective to what you're going to spend that for and if it isn't something that's close to your heart and meaningful, then truly, what are we?
Who are we?
