I fucking hate blogger's system sometimes. I can't select everything and press a directional button or any such thing cos it'd delete the whole selected portion without any way to undo it. It's so dumb. Sheesh...
Tok abt a waste of my time. And I'm already pressed for it as it is. But I really wanna blog all these.
I LOVE OUR COUNTRY!!!!!!!!
I love reading the papers. I wish I devoted more time to it cos it take too long to read everything but it's fun.
I was reading an article about how in Japan, i'm not sure if it's for an incident or many such, a group of vendors had gone to disaster areas, hit by an earthquake, to sell food many times more of the usual value only to have their potential customers go elsewhere for food. Reason being the biggest yakuza group had been inspired to give back to its community and were giving out food for free.
Ironic man. Wonder fi the reason is due to the government's pressure n emphasis or tt cos the yakuza's thot someone else had cramped their style by doing something despicable. Or maybe it was some PR thingy. Who knows, but it's still funny.
They were writting about how disaster ready Japan was but I guess it's due to the numerous times they have been struck by natural disasters. Even the common man has basic instincts as to what to do in the event of a disaster. I don't think we'll survive very long if we were ever hit by one.
anyway, they also compared the hurricane disaster tt hit New Orleans and how the US badly reacted to it in comparison to Japna but I guess Jpn has had more experiences so it's not really fair to compare but stil interesting..
Japan's quite a contradictory country. You would think it modern yet traditional. Honour is highly regarded yet Japan is also the country that is the face of a funky porn industry which also promotes a fair bit of depraved sex acts (bukake, bondage -just learnt there's actually a term for skilsl in rope tying in such an affair). There's also a selection of gore and horror movies in their movie industry that's also quite a trait in the jap cinema industry. And these are far from anything tt's traditional, honourable or anything supposedly positive. BUT yet, it is part of a culture and society where people bow respectfully to each other each time they meet and are mostly polite. And also, from what i read/heard, where porn stars are actually celebrities.
Japan's one country I would really love to live and work in one day. Europe being another. I wanna go international, man.
I also read more about the hanging of the viet from aussie who was cuaght here with lotsa heroin (apparantly 400 g is a lot) and is scheduled to be hung next week. Lotsa aussie officials are trying whatever they can to get us to change our minds but they're not pinning much hopes knowing how strong a stand we are having against drug traffickers, which I think is cool - our stand that is. Unsympathetically, I support the hanging cos I think that one death is better than the deaths of many, physically and soulwise.
As much as I love the thought of experiencing other cultures (tho selected few only), I love the country we live in for many reasons. The cleanliness of it, not only in its enviroment but also in its vices. Maybe it's rampent and I'm not unaware and am hanging with the wrong circles BUT drugs are not so much of a problem here. Yes, there are cases but not as bad as a whole family of druggies. But again, I might not be exposed to the right circles nor am I aware.
We can walk out in the streets safely and not be bugged tho sometimes I wonder if it's cos I am a majority here and would probably fare worse if I was in a country where I am a minority. Well, I personally haven't had or heard of any stories of any muggings or anything of such within my circle.
Our laws are quite strict to the extent of stiffling for some even but I guess so long as I'm not doing anything criminal, I got nothing to worry about.
of course, my only gripe is censorship but I sometimes wonder if that's the reason our society is somewhat tamed. We got little violent outbreaks or social disorder and even if there was, it's mainly surpressed before gettin anywhere. Now I'm wondering, are we another china in the making :p Anyway, if I had more money, I would lvoe to have Singapore as my permanent home and no other way and the rest of the world as my work place.
but then again, I haven't quite travelled the world much either and maybe that'd be another place i'd prefer. but then again, after the time in the US, it's not exactly a place I wanna live for long or wanna call it home. Guess to me, here is where I would very much prefer to call it home. With the definition that home is where we feel the most comfortable and safest, then here is where I wannit to be. I dun mind having a primary home and a secondary one tho. Ahh.. here's where all our desires and dreams enter.. World domination.. here I come... Fame and fortune....
Ever realise that the people who said that fame and fortune dun matter when they have it all but lack that significant person to share tt with. How come we don't hear cases where poeple say it when they are still in the midst of achieving it. Then again, we'd probably see it as sour grapes.
